Mayor Katchur called the regular Council Meeting of September 13, 2016 to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

 

2.   Approval of Minutes of August 23, 2016 Regular Council Meeting

Mayor Katchur opened the Public Hearing at 6:04 p.m.

 

A Public Hearing was held to hear any submissions for and against Bylaw C13-16 which allows the closure of a portion of Point Aux Pins Road in Westpark.  Bylaw C13-16 received first reading at the August 23, 2016 regular Council Meeting.

 

Mayor Katchur asked if anyone in attendance wished to speak for or against Bylaw C13-16.

 

There were no requests to speak on Bylaw C13-16.

 

Mayor Katchur closed the Public Hearing at 6:07 p.m.

7.2   Metro Mayors Alliance

MOVED BY Councillor Garritsen that Council of the City of Fort Saskatchewan hereby agrees as follows:

 

1. The report of the Advisory Panel on Metro Edmonton’s Future dated May 31, 2016

    titled “Be Ready, or Be Left Behind”, provided as Attachment 1 of the

    September 13, 2016 agenda, be received as information;

 

2. The Mayor and City Manager are authorized to continue to represent the

    City of Fort  Saskatchewan as part of the Metro Mayors Alliance; and

 

3. The Mayor is authorized to sign a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding

    (MOU) to signify the City of Fort Saskatchewan’s willingness to continue to participate

    in and explore the recommendations made in the report titled “Be Ready, or Be Left

    Behind”.

7.3   Habitat for Humanity City Support Request

MOVED BY Councillor Sperling that Council approve a grant to Habitat for Humanity Edmonton in the amount of $60,000, to be funded from the Financial Stabilization Reserve, to be put towards building and development permits, and construction of water services that support the construction of 16 Habitat for Humanity duplex units within the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
